Glasgow School of Ballet, formally known as Lillian McNeill School of Dance, is one of Glasgow’s oldest dance schools.
Lillian McNeill was pivotal in bringing the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus to the west of Scotland and Glasgow School of Ballet has continued this affiliation today.
Glasgow School of Ballet’s current Principal Gemma Lockhart has been the owner of the school since 2008 and has been a RAD teacher since 2005. During her time as the Principal Gemma has nurtured and encouraged an environment of joy, dedication, respect and inclusion within the school and through the ethos of “classical training, holistic approach” the school has thrived.
Today Glasgow School of Ballet provides classes for all ages, levels and stages of dance education. From Classical Ballet, Contemporary and Education pathways we can provide a warm, friendly and encouraging environment to meet the individual needs and goals of each of our dancers.
Dance Education is far more than training dancers, it is developing communication skills, self-autonomy, discipline, commitment and a vast array of lifelong skills. But most of all, it is so much fun and the memories made will last a lifetime.
